A Letter from our Pastor (Faith Forward)

June 2, 2016

Greetings First Met Family,

I pray that you and your family are finding joy and peace.

These are exciting times in the life of our church. Since March, hundreds of our members have been preparing for this season of decision regarding our Lifestyle Stewardship Capital Campaign. The presence of God has been manifested in all we have done: the gathering on the great day of fellowship held at the church, our 24 hours prayer celebration where hundreds of members testified to the power of God in their lives, and the dedicated leadership which has guided our activities. There are so many of us working together to do God’s will.

On Sunday we launched the season of decision. Each of us will be asked to make an over and above sacrificial gift to the campaign for the next three years. After much prayer and reflection, Lady O and I shared our commitment of $30,000.00 over the next three years.
Our gift was formed by two things, the great need that is before us as a congregation and the desire to give a gift that reflects genuine sacrifice on our part. Your gift ought to be guided by these same two notions. Remember, it is not an equal gift but equal sacrifice. May your gift be empowered by an adjustment in your lifestyle to the glory and honor of God.0026

Our leadership will make its commitment on June 8, 2016 preceding the great event ‘Vision Sunday’, June 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM at First Met. Each member, your family and friends are encouraged to join us for this Sunday of commitment. On Sunday, June 26, 2016, we will return to our regular worship services which will be our First Fruits Sunday. At that time, we are encouraging as many as possible to give 10% of their commitment on that Sunday. If you are unable to give at that level, please feel free to give what you can. Every gift will be appreciated.

God is doing great things at First Met but each of us must be led by Him.

With prayerful expectation and much hope,

Pastor O

You Belong! New Members

The New Members ministry congratulates the 2016 2nd Quarter Orientation Grads.

Terrance & Joy Hurst January Grads

The New Members Ministry’s purpose is twofold: We help members become acquainted with the history and overall function of the church. We encourage them to move beyond a “positional membership of belonging to their new church home to a participating membership”.

To achieve this, we will study and align ourselves with the FMC vision statement that states: We are a family of faith, leading people to become fully developing followers of Christ by Belonging, Connecting, Growing and Serving.

We then focus on the mission of First Met which is to be a Dynamic Congregation, that Declares God’s Word to our Community and beyond; that Draws people to Christ; that leads people to Develop a godly lifestyle; and seeks to Demonstrate God’s love through service. At the end of New Member class and Network, we present you with opportunities to grow, give and serve.

1. Be REAL with yourself:
A healthy diet will not happen over night so don’t go home and throw out all your groceries in hopes to restock with healthier foods.   (Click to Continue)

Getting Started: Daniel Fast

Every new year Christians all across the world come together to experience the “Daniel Fast.” The fast usually begins the first Sunday or Monday after the new year. The Daniel Fast is based on the fasting experience of the prophet Daniel who objected the Babylonian laws of eating. The King’s food was against dietary laws, Daniel and his friends were against wine, and the King’s foods had been offered up to idols and demons. The Daniel Fast is a spiritual commitment to God to stay away from these foods.    Click to Continue
