Month: October 2015
He-Brews Café was a success this past Friday October 16th. It was a great time of food, fellowship and great conversation. The event bought together a total of 24 attendees during our time together. We are thankful for the growth as we saw a few new faces.
He Brew’s Café is “where art meets worship.” This unique café attracts an audience that is drawn to an entertaining mix of lively discussions about trending topics, music, and life-changing conversation. The intriguing guests, casual setting, and honest examination of issues from a Christian perspective are challenging attendees to think about what they believe and why.
The night kicked off with mingling and light refreshments. During that time guests are able to get to know one another through conversations as well as ice breakers. Our worship team, consisting of Xavier Gilstrap, Gabriel Hynds, and Kahjee Hollis, led us with a couple of selections. It was then time to begin the discussion. This month we discussed the State of the African American Church. We looked at statistics from George Barna and examined how the culture and media portrays the African American Church. The conversation was open, honest, and challenging! Of course, we had to eat! Mama Cass came through and made catfish, grits, and hush puppies. She went in!!!
I would like to thank all those who volunteered and came out to support the event. If you did not have a chance to come out, join us next month on November 20th, 2015. I heard that the menu will consist of beef and baked potatoes. See you there!
The Market Place Ministry Business Seminar will take place this Saturday, Oct. 10th from 9 to 1 pm. Continental breakfast will start at 8:30 am. This will also allow time for you to mingle and meet other like minded Christians and to discuss your business. We will ask you to wear a name badge with just your name and a business description…………………..like real estate, cooking, child care, elderly care, etc., to help trigger conversations with others.
Bring business cards or even a short write up of your current business venture or idea. Also, be prepared to give a 1 minute introduction of yourself and your business to the group.
Our Pastor has started a new series named “Agree with God for your Prosperity”. This Sunday he started the series with his message called “Your Place of Prosperity”, Psalm 66:11-12 NIV “You brought us into the prison and laid burdens on our backs. You let people ride over our heads; we went thru fire and water, but you bought us to a place of abundance.” Maybe your place of abundance is starting your God Anointed business as an entrepreneur or a partner. Maybe it starts this weekend………….
If you are available to come a little early to help with administration, please let us know. Encourage others to come, as all is welcome. Please contact myself or anyone above if you have any questions.

Church doesn’t end just because the worship service is over. “Church” is the body of Christ seeking God’s kingdom, not just an event on Sunday morning. Prayer, service, study and fellowship are important aspects of faith that shouldn’t be restricted to the hour we sit in a pew. That’s what The Table is all about. It’s a private social network, just for our church, that enables us to connect 24/7, not just on Sunday.
How do I join?
You can sign up for the Table here: https://firstmetchurch.table.org/
Now that you’re on the Table, here are five things you can do to get started:
2. Fill out the ‘About Me’ section of your profile with your interests, gifts and skills. This will help connect you with others at church.
3. Browse ‘People’ and click over to the map view to find other people from church who live near you.
4. Go to the ‘Prayer Wall’ and pray for a few of the prayer requests. When you click ‘pray now’ the person can be notified that you prayed for them–instant encouragement!
If you need help with the Table, we can help you out:
1. Contact The Table administrator at email@example.com.
2. You can also check out the Table’s help section: http://www.tableproject.org/help
We will see you on The Table,
First Met; The Place Where You Belong!
