Month: January 2014
The 2014 college Tour is upon us. This years theme is First Hand, drawn from the book, Firsthand; Ditching Secondhand Religion for a Faith of Your Own by the Ryan & Josh Shook. The goal this year is to insure that each student has a personal faith, and not one based upon their parents and grand parents.
As for the tour, the students will visit some of Americas finest institutions. In Baton Rouge, the colleges slated for visits are LSU, Southern & Louisiana Culinary Institute and in New Orleans, Xavier, Dillard & Tulane. The institutions combined represents a wide range of studies and collectively will expose our students to a variety of campuses and campus living.
The cost for the tour is $275.00. The cost covers the tour, travel, lodging and meals on camp grounds.
The holidays have been joyous, but have for some created memories via moments of sadness through the loss of a loved one. 2014, in its greatness, has mirrored past years in bringing life into the world and bringing life into eternity.
As a support for those who have and are experiencing grief, First Met has started a Griefshare support group. Griefshare connects both newly grieving and those who are progressing through the grieving process. Each session features the testimony of others, instructional videos and spiritual insights as to how to move through the grieving process, support others while they are grieving as well as and scriptural support while one places the piece of their new world back together.
The new session of Griefshare started Jan 6th and ends April 14th. The sessions start at 6:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm. For more information about Griefshare, email Brenda Tucker-Harvey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
